National Arboretum Wedding | Navy Yard | Intimate Wedding
National Arboretum Wedding and reception in the Navy Yard.
There’s a lot of buzz right now in the wedding world about “Adventure Elopements” and what exactly they are. Couples see these fantastic photos taken in remote mountainsides and they think there’s no way that they can afford that.
Well, the truth is an adventure elopement can be done anywhere you live, because the adventure is in your hearts. Not in the location! Luckily for us living in DC, there are so many great places to have a gorgeous, intimate wedding or elopement.
The National Arboretum
Brooke and Adrian knew they wanted a small wedding that incorporated city and nature. Adrian proposed to Brooke at the National Arboretum in DC, and that’s where they decided the wedding should be.
The morning their day started sweet and unrushed. They wanted artistic photos that captured every moment, from the butterflies, to their intimate first look.
Brooke made almost everything from their wedding including the invites! I loved the rustic yet luxe palette of nudes and golds she chose. I was blown away by her attention to every detail, right down to the ribbons!
Her gorgeous florals were supplied by Ashes to Oaks, and her dress was created for her by artist Yasmine Layani. Brooke said she has Instagram to thank for finding all of her amazing vendors. If you’re engaged, Insta is a goldmine of great inspiration and vendors!
If I could give one piece of advice to couples who is getting married, make the day your own. Give yourself time to do what you want. Brooke and Adrian did just that! So when we left to do some photos around the Navy Yard, Brooke and Adrian were calm and a little giddy. The perfect combo for emotional photos.
The ceremony was emotional (there were a few tears shed behind the camera, not going to lie) as Brooke walked down the aisle to I Get to Love You by Ruelle, as they married at The Arboretum as 20 of their loved ones watched.
Their vows were just perfect as they married under a beautiful autumn sky with puffy clouds, and the strings of a violinist playing.
The reception made all of my boho and industrial venue dreams come true! I did a happy dance when Brook and Adrian first told me of their plans because I adore the Blue Jacket Brewery in Navy Yard, which is where they had their reception.
The guests mingled inside and out, enjoying some tasty craft brew in the cocktail styled reception, which overlooked the main floor of the brewery. Cheers!
Thank you, Brooke, and Adrian, for allowing me to photograph the special events you’ve had in your life over the past year. Congratulations!
