The thought and planning that my clients put into their wedding days always astound me.
Melissa and Joe’s wedding is a perfect example of this! Their incredible, intimate wedding in their historic home was full of love and personal ties and connection in every single detail.
Ever wonder how to make the little elements personal and meaningful? For Melissa’s something blue, she had a special necklace attached to her bouquet. Joe had lightsabers on his boutonnieres!
For photos of Melissa’s gown, I just love that I was able to hang it in the restored staircase with the beautiful light coming in and all of the historical family photos on the wall. It gives that heirloom feel that I think will endure for years.
Melissa and Joe have been restoring this home together, so it was important to them to have their closest friends and family around them on their day to take their vows. It’s a great little getaway for friends coming from NYC.
They even incorporated the most beautiful watercolor rendering of their home on the inside of their stationery for their invitations. Like I said, the fantastic details they thought of blow my mind!
Their simple ceremony was heartfelt, and their botanical arbor was beautiful. (Alllll the tears definitely happened behind the camera) I couldn’t believe it when I found out that Melissa’s mom did all the décor. This whole wedding was a labor of love, from start to finish.
Even the music was thought out and personal; Joe and his guys walked down to Huey Lewis’s “The Power of Love,” and Melissa chose her parent’s first dance song “Color My World” which was a charming surprise for them.
After the ceremony, they recessed to “The Raiders March” from Indiana Jones (as Joe donned the signature hat) and I could not help but smile from behind the camera… I just LOVE when people give the nod to what brings them closer.
Afterward, they sealed the deal by signing their marriage certificate with the same feathered pink pen her parents used to sign their marriage license with. How cool is that?!
Photos were right down the street at a park they love. They wanted their photos to be sweet, easy and intimate and then they wanted to get back to that epic party they planned!
The food spread was terrific; the cocktails were flowing (handmade and named after their two beloved kitties). The cornhole was rocking along with the beer pong. This celebration did not stop.
After dancing together in their backyard under the twinkle lights with all of their favorite people around them, Melissa and Joe started their new life together in this amazing home they have created.
Congratulations, Melissa, and Joe. It was such a joy to document your wedding day!!!
